What is Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)?

Dec 06, 2022

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a powerful psychological tool that has been around since the 1970s. It is based on the idea that our experience of the world is based on the language patterns we use. NLP seeks to help people become more aware of their language patterns and, in turn, to gain greater control over their thoughts and behavior.

The primary presuppositions of NLP are that the mind is capable of changing itself; that we have the capacity to choose our own thoughts and behaviors; that we can create our own reality; and that we can learn from the past and use it to create a better future. NLP also assumes that language can be used to directly influence our thoughts and behavior, and that people's behavior can be modeled and reproduced.

NLP also relies heavily on the concept of rapport, or the ability to establish a connection with another person. Rapport is essential in NLP, as it allows practitioners to understand the other person's perspective and to provide appropriate responses.

NLP is a powerful tool for personal development, and its presuppositions are the foundation of its success. By understanding and applying these presuppositions, practitioners can help people change their life for the better.
